EDA tool suite features 11 upgrades

An EDA Solutions product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Jan 16, 2007

Tanner Tools 12.2 is the latest release of the Windows-based EDA tool suite for analogue, mixed-signal and MEMS design from Tanner EDA.

Tanner Tools 12.2 is the latest release of the Windows-based EDA tool suite for analogue, mixed-signal and MEMS design from Tanner EDA.

It features 11 upgrades throughout the design flow that make the tools easier to use, improve automation, and deliver faster, more accurate simulation.

Tanner Tools 12.2 consists of the S-Edit schematic capture tool, T-Spice for simulation, L-Edit for layout and HiPer Verify for design verification.

All of the tools offer improved productivity via this latest release.

The speed of S-Edit has been increased when importing or exporting EDIF files, exporting Spice models, and loading or saving design data.

The ability to import and export Cadence-compatible EDIF files has been added, and there are now callback functions for properties and improved printing performance, including the addition of a print preview feature.

T-Spice simulation, which currently includes HSpice/PSpice compatibility and support for the latest industry models, is now faster and features improved operating-point convergence.

The L-Edit physical layout editor gets an enhanced layer palette that displays layer names and an integrated layer manger that allows users to define layers as locked or selectable.

Other time-saving improvements to the tool include the capability to automatically convert layouts to T-cell code and a DevGen feature that creates T-cells for common devices with L-Edit's schematic driven layout (SDL).

The resulting T-cells are parameterised, and contain geometry elements whose appearance can depend on these parameters.

Because the user does not need to write any UPI code directly, the feature is useful for users who are unfamiliar with UPI programming.

There is also extended support for the small feature sizes that are becoming increasingly common in new designs as process geometries shrink, and a new function to undo auto-placement of vias, contacts and guard rings, for improved layout flexibility.

For hierarchical design rule checking, HiPer Verify now runs between 2 and 10 times faster than the previous version.

EDA Solutions Is Tanner EDA's exclusive representative in Europe, and Tanner Tools 12.2 is available from the company now.
