Breakers aim for automotive fuse market

E-T-A Circuit Breakers has released new colour coded versions of its blade-type circuit breakers for fuse replacement in all types of vehicle from cars to trucks, buses and off-road applications.

E-T-A Circuit Breakers has released new colour coded versions of its blade-type circuit breakers for fuse replacement in all types of vehicle from cars to trucks, buses and off-road applications When a fault occurs, no longer is inspection of each fuse necessary to see which is blown while hoping there is a correct current replacement

When the 1610 has tripped, the reset button pops up showing clearly which circuit has a fault.

The new colour-coded E-T-A 1610-21 is a miniaturised version, manual reset, blade-type fuse replacement designed specifically for automotive applications.

Simple depression of the reset button puts the circuit back in operation.

The colour coding provides quick and easy identification to ensure correct plug-in placement in standard automotive blade-type fuse blocks, or it can be fitted to purpose-designed E-T-A modular mounting bases.

At the same time, the E-T-A 1610 provides superior protection to fuses through its electrical performance characteristics and its ability to distinguish between temporary surges and genuine overloads.

This is especially important for motors, lamp loads and other circuits where discrimination is necessary between in-rush currents and normal operating conditions.

Also, E-T-A circuit breaker performance is stable over time, whereas fuses can age causing their blow characteristics to change.

This may lead to nuisance blowing of fuses with consequent problems while the vehicle is in use.

Overall dimensions of the body of the overcurrent circuit breaker are just 24mm in height above the blade by 20.3mm wide by 6mm thick.

The 1610-21 is available in a choice of current ratings from 6 to 25A at 28V DC.

The operating temperature range is -30 to +60C. Request a free brochure from E-T-A Circuit Breakers ...
