System puts fibre patchcords to the test
New from EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering is the IQS-12001B cable assembly test system for multimode patchcord applications.
Based on the new IQS-500 Cortex intelligent test platform, the IQS-12001B can test single-mode fibres at 1310/1550 or 1550/1625nm, both for insertion loss and optical back reflection, at the push of a button for productivity and ease of use.
In addition, the high-sensitivity optical reflection measurements mean that it is now possible to carry out mandrel-free testing on high-performance ultra-polished (UPC) and angle-polished (APC) connectors.
"The IQS-12001B will increase manufacturing throughput for insertion loss and mandrel-free reflection testing of all types of fibre-optic interconnect assemblies", said Mario Larose, Vice-President of Marketing at EXFO.
"The cable assembly test system is fast, accurate and includes the most complete software package available.
It is now easy to measure simplex, duplex, multifibre, hybrid and fan-out fibre assemblies with one easy-to-use automated test system".
