The IQS-8510G Packet Blazer is designed for testing 10Gbit/s Ethernet (10 GigE) interfaces in optical networks.

New from EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering, the IQS-8510G Packet Blazer is designed for testing 10Gbit/s Ethernet (10 GigE) interfaces in optical networks With increasing demand for 10 GigE technology in the network core, system manufacturers and carrier labs can rely on EXFO's market-proven Packet Blazer for all their testing needs

Advanced test capabilities, such as packet-jitter, traffic generation and analysis, and RFC 2544 (a well-established testing methodology that includes throughput, latency and frame-loss measurements), are ideally suited for Ethernet-based or Internet Protocol devices and networks.

The IQS-8510G Packet Blazer, housed inside EXFO's widely deployed and rack-mounted IQS-500 intelligent test system, is designed for manufacturing environments, system verification, central offices and carrier lab applications.

This new test solution will be displayed on Booth 302-303 during ECOC 2005, extending from 26th to 28th September at the Scottish Exhibition Conference Centre in Glasgow, Scotland.

"At EXFO, we have a long history of leveraging innovative test solutions onto multiple applications in order to address a broad range of customer needs, while maximising return on investment", said Benoit Fleury, EXFO's Vice-President of Protocol-Layer Product Management.

"This latest offering, coming on the heels of our 10 GigE product launch for the portable FTB-400 universal test system, is another example of our innovation processes at work for our customers".

"The end-result is that we're increasingly offering a broad suite of leading-edge datacom and transport test solutions to both carriers and systems vendors".

The new IQS-8510G Packet Blazer can characterise local and/or wide area network physical interfaces (LAN PHY and/or WAN PHY) with the same test module at all available wavelengths.

The Packet Blazer family of products tests Ethernet connectivity in its native format for LAN-to-LAN services delivered via ATM, frame relay, next-generation Sonet/SDH, switched Ethernet, VLANs, dark fibre, wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) or other means.

It also features EXFO's unique EtherBERT technology (patent pending) that provides bit-error-rate testing of Ethernet interfaces.
