Exfo Electro-Optical Engineering's AXS-200/620 ADSL2+ triple-play test set provides a combination of DSL and Ethernet features which allow for testing in any residential triple-play environment.

Exfo Electro-Optical Engineering has released the AXS-200/620 ADSL2+ triple-play test set for the installation and troubleshooting of ADSL1/2/2+ and 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet-based triple-play services The AXS-200/620 has been designed for assessing the quality-of-service (QoS) of IP-based voice (VoIP) and video (IPTV) services

This solution provides a combination of DSL and Ethernet features which allow for testing in any residential triple-play environment.

The test module is housed inside the multi-service and multi-medium AXS-200 SharpTester platform, a modular handheld unit for the access network market that can easily be configured for copper/DSL/triple-play, Ethernet or optical testing applications using a common Windows-CE graphical user interface.

The AXS-200/620 incorporates an ADSL2+ golden modem for upstream and downstream service verification of the DSL link.

Similarly, it provides dual Ethernet interfaces for full WAN - LAN analysis of IP services, allowing IP-layer connectivity testing such as IP PING, FTP/HTTP downloading and traceroute measurements.

The AXS-200/620 also offers enhanced IPTV test capabilities including media delivery index (MDI), program clock reference jitter, stream-rate metrics, bandwidth utilisation and IP metrics on multiple MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 media streams.

In addition, critical VoIP metrics can be monitored to ensure quality IP-based voice services.

Finally, Exfo's ADSL2+ triple-play test set provides auto-test routines with pass/fail analysis for all test modes to quickly validate that the service falls within acceptable limits.

In the event that advanced troubleshooting is required, the AXS-200/620 supports a multi-layer histogram window that will visually indicate when errors are occurring and whether these errors are related to the physical layer/DSL layer, ATM layer or IP layer.

Etienne Gagnon, Exfo's Vice-President of Product Management and Marketing said "With consumer-based multimedia applications fueling the growth of triple-play access networks, the AXS-200/620, combined with AXS-200 SharpTester platform, will allow network service providers to efficiently meet their installation and troubleshooting test requirements".
