Express Logic announces ThreadX RTOS support for Luminary Micro's Stellaris Microcontrollers

Express Logic, the worldwide leader in royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOS), today announced that Express Logic's ThreadX RTOS now supports Luminary Micro's Stellaris microcontrollers based on the ARM CortexT-M3 microcontroller core An evaluation version of ThreadX and a demonstration application are now included in Luminary Micro's Stellaris Development Kits

The demonstration consists of a simple six thread application that uses many advanced, yet easy-to-use features of ThreadX.

The entire application with ThreadX requires less than 7KB of flash and less than 4KB of SRAM.

Users can modify the demonstration or write a completely new ThreadX application up to the evaluation limits, which consist of ten threads, one instantiation of each type of memory pool, and a maximum of two instantiations for each of the other ThreadX objects.

"Express Logic's leadership in royalty-free real-time operating systems makes them an ideal partner for us," said Jean Anne Booth, Chief Marketing Officer of Luminary Micro.

"ThreadX presents a small memory footprint with an easy to use, rich set of system services such as threads, message queues, counting semaphores, and mutexes".

"We are pleased to include ThreadX in our development kit, providing developers with a convenient introduction to the capabilities of ThreadX in their applications".

ThreadX is Express Logic's small, fast, royalty-free RTOS for demanding real-time applications.

Its royalty-free business model makes ThreadX extremely attractive for high-volume devices.

ThreadX's ease-of-use enables ThreadX-powered devices to get to market on time and within budget, which accounts for ThreadX's success in the marketplace and its high-volume implementations.

ThreadX has been widely embraced and is currently deployed in excess of 300 million electronic products.

The Stellaris line of MCUs brings high-performance 32-bit computing to cost-sensitive embedded microcontroller applications at a cost equivalent to legacy 8- and 16-bit devices.

Stellaris MCUs are targeted at embedded and industrial applications, such as building and home automation, factory automation, motor control, and industrial power control devices.

"We are pleased to support Luminary Micro and the industry's first silicon implementation of Cortex-M3 in its Stellaris microcontrollers," commented John Carbone, Vice President of Marketing at Express Logic.

"The ARM Cortex-M3 CPU core delivers new capabilities, such as deterministic interrupt response, that are critical for deeply embedded applications". Request free introductory details about products from Express Logic ...
