White paper explains the problems of wireless coexistence and collocation and demonstrates how they can be tackled.

With the growing success of both Bluetooth and 802.11, there is an increasing need for such products to coexist together, as they share the same radio spectrum Ezurio's wireless modules support a number of schemes to mitigate the effects of interference, even when they are located next to each other

A new white paper explains the problems of coexistence and collocation and demonstrates how they can be tackled.

With both radios sharing the same spectrum, there is plenty of opportunity for interference, resulting in loss of data and increased power consumption.

This is of particular concern for companies using either of these short range technologies for M2M and embedded applications, where the integrity and reliability of the data signal is paramount.

Ezurio is the leading supplier of Bluetooth and 802.11 modules to the M2M and embedded market and has addressed the problem by implementing interference mitigation and co-operative wireless behaviour within their range of modules.

This allows Bluetooth to operate successfully within an 802.11 hotspot, and even allows Bluetooth and Wireless LAN radios to be collocated in the same device.

A new application note explaining the issues and the approaches to coexistence is available from Ezurio's website.

"As a supplier of both Bluetooth and 802.11 products, we are very aware of the problems of shared spectrum", said Nick Hunn, CTO of Ezurio.

"In the embedded market reliability and robustness are the two prime requirements".

"We have invested significant engineering effort in our products to ensure that we deliver both of these".
