Dual-output buffer for DDR SDRAM modules
Fairchild Semiconductor has introduced a dual-output registered buffer for 184-pin, 2.5V PC200/PC266, 72bit-wide registered double data rate (DDR) SDRAM modules.
Bus hold makes logic more predictable
Fairchild Semiconductor has made a number of additions to its LCX family, the logic industry standard for 3.3V applications.
Saifun's NROM technology allows storage of two physical bits per cell.
The cell size is by far the smallest in the industry, smaller by a factor of six compared with any other EEPROM cell.
With 2bit per cell, the advantage of a small die size becomes even greater in high-density devices.
These NROM-based products are the smallest devices in the market with endurance and retention characteristics equal or better than the conventional EEPROM technology.
Additionally, NROM technology uses a simpler process, requiring fewer manufacturing masks than any other EEPROM processes and offering truly byte-writable capability.
Keith Jackson, Vice President and General Manager of Fairchild's Analog, Mixed Signal and Non-Volatile Memory Group describes the partnership as a "winning combination".
Explains Jackson, "Saifun will design NROM-based EEPROM products, and Fairchild will provide its capability in volume production.
The main marketing and sales activities will be handled via Fairchild's existing sales channels.
Our companies are targeting to become EEPROM market leaders in today's $1 billion market, with a substantial market share of the high density EEPROM market within four years".
Dr Boaz Eitan, President and CEO at Saifun Semiconductors, describes the partnership as "joining Fairchild's applications, marketing knowhow and established distribution channels together with Saifun's design capabilities and NROM technology".
Eitan says, "The companies will not only provide the benchmark technology of the EEPROM market, they will be positioned to obtain leadership in the EEPROM market.
This highly advanced, cost-effective technology will extend EEPROM usage to many new NVM applications".
