SPT designs analogue-to-digital convertors (ADCs), digital-to-analogue convertors (DACs) and comparators for multimarket products that focus on the high end of the resolution/speed curve.
Fairchild will combine the SPT technologies and Fairchild's world-class manufacturing processes to cost effectively produce these products for the emerging high-end consumer market.
"This acquisition will deepen Fairchild's penetration into growing product applications, particularly in the consumer, communications and instrumentation fields", said Kirk Pond, president, CEO and chairman of the board of Fairchild Semiconductor.
"In five short years, Fairchild has developed its analogue products business from zero to more than $300 million annually.
This acquisition adds key products to our analogue portfolio and will further drive our analogue success story.
This is another step in Fairchild's two-pronged strategy to grow through acquisitions and new product development".
"We're excited to have these leading-edge products in our portfolio, as they allow us to increase our position in key signal chain applications", said Keith Jackson, vice president and general manager of the Analogue and Mixed Signal Business Group at Fairchild Semiconductor.
"Combining SPT's high speed and high resolution analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue convertors with our emerging signal conditioning product family, increases Fairchild's overall ability to participate in applications not available to us previously".
SPT is a subsidiary of Toko.
