Bus hold makes logic more predictable
Fairchild Semiconductor has made a number of additions to its LCX family, the logic industry standard for 3.3V applications.
"Fairchild continues to focus on designers' needs for dense packaging in electronics", says Ken Murphy, Fairchild's manager of logic products.
"Today's announcement highlights our commitment to speeding technological innovation.
By providing the largest portfolio of single-, dual- and configurable-gates, decoders, multiplexers, and analogue switches, Fairchild helps manufacturers upgrade designs and add product features to wireless and other portable products".
MicroPak logic products and switches are already designed into cell phones, PDAs and other products in the USA, Europe and Asia.
MicroPak package dimensions of 1.45 x 1.0mm provide a 65% space savings on the PC board, compared with the SC70 package.
The package's large 0.2 x 0.3mm contact pads assure strong joint integrity, and its 0.5mm-pitch spacing facilitates high yield at mounting and eases manufacturing handling.
MicroPak packages are lead-free and are rated MSL-1, which eliminates special dry-bag handling measures.
This next generation logic package allows Fairchild to offer customers the most cost competitive prices over time.
MicroPak products feature six-terminal packages, and so the portfolio includes single- as well as more complex dual- and triple-input logic functions, decoders, multiplexers, flip-flops, analogue switches and configurable logic.
Performance levels include TinyLogic High-Speed (HS and HST) and Ultra High-Speed (UHS) families.
