The FS6X1220RT is a highly integrated offline power switch that includes a fully avalanche-rated SenseFET with a current mode PWM IC.

The FS6X1220RT is a highly integrated offline power switch that includes a fully avalanche-rated SenseFET (200V minimum breakdown rating) with a current mode PWM IC - a unique combination that minimises external components, simplifies designs, and lowers cost in target applications.

Applications such as DC/DC forward or fly-back power supplies as well as for VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) phones, digital feature phones, industrial power supplies and telecomms central office and PBX power supplies benefit from the FS6X1220RT's various protection circuits, superior performance compared to discrete mosfet/controller or RCC switching convertor solutions while also benefiting from reduced board space and improved reliability.

The internal features of this new power switch include overvoltage, overload, cycle-by-cycle current limit, and thermal shutdown protection.

To increase system efficiency and allow the use of smaller size transformers, the FS6X1220RT uses an integrated 300kHz oscillator.

The FS6X1220RT also boasts line undervoltage detection, remote sleep on/off, undervoltage lockout, and an optimised blanking and gate turn-on/turn-off driver.

In addition, the device has temperature-compensated, precision current sources for loop compensation and fault protection circuitry.

The internal current sensing, high-voltage SenseFET on the device offers a 200V minimum breakdown rating.

This product is available in space-saving, TO-220F-5L and D2-PAK-5L packages.

The FS6X1220RT, used in conjunction with Fairchild's optically isolated error amplifiers, such as the FOD2741, enables isolated power supply designs by minimising board space and reducing component count.

Samples and demo boards available now, production quantities in 8 weeks.

D2-PAK-5L will be available by July.
