Dual analogue switch routes handset
audio
A new dual SPDT analogue switch offers a compact, high performance and flexible solution for routing audio signals in speaker sharing or hands-free functions.
A new dual SPDT analogue switch offers designers of cellphones, digital still cameras, PDAs and other portable electronics a compact, high performance and flexible solution for routing audio signals in speaker sharing or hands-free functions Fairchild has been named as the fastest-growing supplier of analogue switch solutions, and the FSA2257 broadens its portfolio of solutions for portable applications, including audio amplifiers, LED drivers, LEDs for backlighting, supervisory products, and a variety of DC/DC conversion products

Bus hold makes logic more predictable
Fairchild Semiconductor has made a number of additions to its LCX family, the logic industry standard for 3.3V applications.
The device's low distortion and exceptional ESD protection, combined with a robust ultracompact leadless MicroPak package, optimise design flexibility in response to the continuing miniaturisation trend in portable devices.
This low-on-resistance analogue switch supports strong growth in cellphones, digital still cameras, PDAs, medical electronics, industrial instrumentation, and other portable products.
Fairchild's FSA2257 provides bidirectional operation, allowing configuration either as a multiplexer or demultiplexer by select pins.
Key performance specifications of the FSA2257 normally closed (NC) switch include its ultralow on-resistance of 0.95ohm, typical, which helps reduce power consumption.
The low total harmonic distortion of 0.002% minimises distortion placed on the signal as it passes through the switch.
Other features include a broad 1.65-5.5V operating voltage range, 8.0kV ESD performance (Human Body Model) and low leakage current (2nA) and low charge injection (20pC, maximum) minimise offset error in signal sample/hold applications.
Fairchild's FSA2257 comes in ten-terminal leadless MicroPak (L10X suffix) packaging on 5000-piece tape-and-reels compatible with standard high-speed manufacturing equipment.
This lead-free (Pb-free) product meets or exceeds the requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020B and is compliant with European Union requirements that will take effect in 2005.
