Space-saving outline for logic-level
translators
The FXL4T245BQX and FXL5T244BQX are low-voltage logic-level translators in DQFN packaging.
The FXL4T245BQX (4bit bidirectional) and FXL5T244BQX (5bit unidirectional) are low-voltage logic-level translators in DQFN packaging Designed for cellphones, notebooks and other battery-powered portable devices, CMOS-based FXL series translators enable interconnection between a lower voltage microprocessor and higher voltage ASIC functions

Dual-output buffer for DDR SDRAM modules
Fairchild Semiconductor has introduced a dual-output registered buffer for 184-pin, 2.5V PC200/PC266, 72bit-wide registered double data rate (DDR) SDRAM modules.
Bus hold makes logic more predictable
Fairchild Semiconductor has made a number of additions to its LCX family, the logic industry standard for 3.3V applications.
The FXL4T245BQX and FXL5T244BQX provide space-efficient level translation between the 2.5-3.3V I/Os of 3, 4 and 5bit memory modules such as in Memory Stick or Secure Digital (SD) card applications, and the frequently lower voltage I/Os of the processor chipset.
"Fairchild's FXL series devices give designers the flexibility to match I/Os of existing microprocessors to higher voltage functions such as panel display and peripherals", says Ken Murphy, Fairchild Marketing Manager for Logic Products.
"A significant attribute is the device's DQFN packaging that supports the miniaturisation trend in portables".
Both translators feature configurable voltage supplies (VCCA and VCCB) for the inputs and outputs allowing translation in either direction, between typical logic levels of 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, 2.5 and 3.3V.
Power consumption is kept low by a quiescent current (ICC) specification of 20uA maximum.
Both devices are offered in the new 14-terminal DQFN leadless package that measures 2.5 x 3.0 x 0.8mm and requires just 30% of the board area of TSSOP.
Furthermore, the DQFN package's MSL-1 (moisture sensitivity level) rating eliminates the need for costly dry bag storage prior to use on the production line.
Lead-free (Pb-free) FXL4T245BQX and FXL5T244BQX devices can withstand end user lead-free PC board attachment processes up to 250C.
All models in the series meet or exceed the requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020B and are compliant with European Union requirements that will take effect in 2005.
Other product features of the FXL series include: a low noise buffered interface with up to 24mA drive; nonpreferential power-up sequencing - either VCC may be powered up first; outputs switch to tristate if either VCC is at GND - device remains in tristate until both VCCs reach an active level; power-off overvoltage (IOFF) protection of I/Os and control pins; and minimum 4kV HBM (human body model) ESD protection and 8kV HBM I/O-to-ground protection.
