The all-new 2002 UK catalogue from Farnell will land on the desks of UK customers tomorrow (7th June 2002).
As a result of the continuous research undertaken at Farnell to constantly understand and meet its customers' needs, the six-book catalogue has undergone an extensive restyling.
In addition it features the biggest introduction of new products ever by Farnell - over 10,000 new items - into a total range of over 100,000 products.
Commenting on the launch of the 2002 Farnell catalogue, Paul Tallentire, Regional Director, Western Europe, Farnell, says: "The publication of this year's catalogue underlines once again the sheer breadth and depth of the Farnell product range.
A great deal of time has been spent listening to and gaining an even greater understanding of each of our customers, which is reflected in the huge number of new products and services which we're bringing to market in June.
We won't be resting on our laurels though - we continue to hold regular focus groups and surveys with our customer base, as we strive to ensure the Farnell catalogue provides for all of their needs".
Among new features of the catalogue, Book 2 has been tailored specifically to meet the needs of engineers in design, R and D and test.
Part of the six book set, yet a true one-book solution in its own right, product and service selection has resulted from analysis of the needs of engineers in those fields and their buying patterns with Farnell.
Comprehensive reference material is provided for customers at the beginning of each book, including charts, guides, technology articles and answers to frequently asked questions, all tailored for that specific book.
Also, each book includes at-a-glance new product highlights at the beginning with references to the specific catalogue section for further information.
The six books cover: buyers' guide and master index; electronics for engineers in design, R and D and test; connectors and cable; electrical and test; process control and automation; and mechanical, tools, safety and office.
Brand new for 2002 are the very latest oscilloscopes from Tektronix, one of the world's leading manufacturers of oscilloscopes for electronic design, troubleshooting, and service applications.
The TDS1000 and TDS2000 series instruments were launched globally by Tektronix on 29th April 2002.
Farnell's leadership in the semiconductor market continues, with over 1400 new passive components added to the 2002 catalogue, bringing Farnell's semiconductor range to over 50,000.
Farnell has also significantly increased its connectors offering with 1700 new products in the 2002 catalogue, carefully selected from 23 of the world's leading suppliers, including Tyco, Molex, Harting, FCI, Lemo, Harwin, Contact and Amphenol.
Following the acquisition of Buck and Hickman by Premier Farnell Group last year, the Farnell six book catalogue will, for the first time, feature Buck and Hickman's prestigious Roebuck range of tools and toolkits, as well as Roebuck first aid kits and consumables.
The Farnell catalogue is also available online from the Farnell website as well as in CD ROM and PDF formats.
