Bundle provides easy intro to Flash micro

A Farnell product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Oct 27, 2004

The world's smallest microcontroller, the PIC10F206 created by Microchip Technology, is now available from Farnell InOne in an exclusive bundle starter kit.

The world's smallest microcontroller, the PIC10F206 created by Microchip Technology, is now available from Farnell InOne in an exclusive bundle starter kit.

These revolutionary 6-pin Flash devices provide ideal solutions for design engineers in many markets not previously served by microcontrollers, such as easy bug fixes for ASIC and printed circuit board designs, replacing standard logic and timing components, or traditional mechanical timers and switches.

Microchip's PICmicro MCU family has long offered solutions for the broadest range of microcontroller applications.

With the development of these revolutionary 8bit Flash devices in 6-pin packages, the possibilities for nontraditional microcontroller uses can be realised, limited only by a designer's imagination.

Explains Ferdinand Leicher, Director of Electronic Design and Product Management, Farnell InOne: "Discovering a bug in an ASIC or a PCB can have devastating consequences for the design, potentially creating time-to-market delays and even scrap costs".

"Often the design issue is simple, accommodated by changing the functionality of a single signal using a microcontroller".

"The launch of the new PIC10F206 microcontroller is fantastic news for everyone as it makes such a solution possible for many more products".

"What is more, the development time for a microcontroller-based system is faster and easier than designing an entirely new ASIC or PCB".

"By including the low-cost PIC10F 6-pin devices in a PCB design from the start, bugs, late changes and other measures can be implemented with ease and little expense for ASICs, the board and for a number of other devices on the board".

The new and exclusive bundle starter kit includes five samples of the PIC10F206 chip, as well as the PICkit 1 Flash starter kit, and the PIC10F adapter conversion kit.

In addition to the exclusive offer, until 31st December 2004 Farnell InOne customers will receive a special discounted price.
