The Farnell InOne website, which attracted over one million visitors last month, now features a novel RoHS web demo.

Building on the success of the Farnell InOne website which attracted over one million visitors last month, the international distributor of electronic and industrial components has launched a new RoHS web demo This will guide design engineers, production engineers and purchasing agents through ordering RoHS products online and includes a sophisticated yet easy to use search function that makes sourcing RoHS compliant products easier than ever

Farnell InOne's website contains a wealth of information dedicated to understanding and adhering to the RoHS legislation.

The new demo provides the perfect vehicle to ensure visitors are able to make best use of all the different areas and in particular, the new enriched search functionality.

Step by step, the user is taken through the benefits of the Farnell InOne search process, such as how to use the RoHS compliance filter to only search for RoHS compliant products and how to download personalised certificates of compliance - available in both PDF and HTML - to help aid the audit trail required to comply with the legislation.

The user is also guided through the process of searching for RoHS compliant alternatives.

The Farnell InOne website flags up alternative products and the user only has to click on the link to crossreference products, including technical attributes and data sheets.

The demo also provides a clear overview of the site's "coming soon" functionality which Farnell InOne believes will prove essential in enabling design engineers to make design decisions in advance of stock availability and sign up to receive email notification when the specified compliant product comes into stock.

Gary Nevison, Head of Product Market Strategy at Farnell InOne, comments: "We received over one million visitors to the Farnell InOne website in September as word of mouth has spread about it being an RoHS information 'centre of excellence'".

"The site manages to incorporate a highly sophisticated search engine in an extremely easy to use format and we have been very pleased by its overwhelming success".

"However, the site is only one way in which Farnell InOne is making its RoHS expertise available".

"If visitors cannot find the information they need, then they can easily seek specific information through the personal queries section".

"Readily available assistance from a technical support desk with engineers specially trained in RoHS is available".

"Being able to pick up the phone or e-mail a query goes a long way to helping smooth the transition to RoHS".

"Meanwhile, the event section keeps people up-to-date on opportunities when they can meet our RoHS experts face-to-face at one of our customer seminars held regularly around the country".
