New lab set to be centre of excellence
Farnell InOne has opened a new electronic design engineering laboratory, which it reckons will be a UK centre for industry excellence and exploration.
Farnell InOne has opened a new electronic design engineering (EDE) laboratory, which it reckons will be a UK centre for industry excellence and exploration.
Based at the company's UK headquarters in Leeds, the EDE lab will provide a hub for training and in-depth analysis on the latest industry issues as well as for new product demonstrations from the world's leading manufacturers.
To mark its launch, Farnell InOne held an industry focus day on RoHS and lead-free soldering.
The free event included a soldering workshop covering solder temperatures, solder types and solder demonstrations in conjunction with Cooper Tools, as well as presentations from Kelan Circuits and Henkel Multicore.
Other suppliers who attended to share industry knowledge with the design community included Vermason (ESD), Schaffner (EMC), Lumileds and LeCroy.
Jamie Furness, EDE Development Manager at Farnell InOne, comments: "EDE lab provides a great venue for forums and workshops on the latest industry issues such as RoHS".
"A series of lectures and demonstrations in the Lab are planned for 2006 as well as workshops on evaluation boards and support tools".
"Design engineers will be able to attend these free seminars and meet the industry experts in each field".
"EDE Lab is also a perfect location for manufacturers to hold UK-based training and product launches".
"Farnell InOne is dedicated to helping customers and suppliers understand industry issues as they emerge".
"EDE lab is the latest service in our wide range of support tools designed to help design engineers meet the challenges of a rapidly changing marketplace and bring products to market quickly".
"EDE lab will bring people together to explore and discuss the latest exciting industry developments".
