Cypress signs for global coverage

A Farnell product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Oct 24, 2006

Premier Farnell and Cypress Semiconductor Corp have signed a global franchise agreement.

Premier Farnell and Cypress Semiconductor Corp have signed a global franchise agreement.

Through this arrangement, Farnell InOne in Europe/Asia Pacific, and Newark InOne in the Americas, will offer Cypress's extensive range of PSoC Programmable System on Chip mixed signal arrays, wired and wireless USB devices, CMOS image sensors, timing solutions, speciality memory products and optical solutions to the design engineering community globally.

Most importantly, the agreement extends the global accessibility of Cypress's PsoC devices which enable engineers to reduce the number of components needed in a wide range of consumer, automotive and industrial designs, from cameras, to games consoles to white goods.

The single-chip solution, which comes complete with an easy-to-use development kit, can integrate as many as 100 peripheral functions with a microcontroller, saving board space and power consumption.

This helps reduce costs and shorten the development period resulting in a quicker time to market and greater design flexibility.

Bien Iris, Senior Vice President of International Sales at Cypress said: "Catalogue distribution, whether online or paper-based, is a key strategy in our global demand identification effort and in growing our customer base, especially for our PSoC products, and I am confident that having Premier Farnell as a global channel partner will help us in that endeavour".

Marianne Culver, Group Director of Global Electronics Supplier Marketing at Premier Farnell adds: "We're thrilled to be working with Cypress, and especially to help drive such an important innovation as its PSoC product".

"We pride ourselves on consistently delivering excellence to the worldwide design engineer community and this agreement only serves to strengthen our offering".
