The new generation of Codian's video conferencing equipment, the MCU 4200 and IP VCR 2200 series, features Low Delay Advanced Audio Coding and Low Complexity Advanced Audio Coding.

High quality audio codecs make videoconferences easier to follow, and the new generation of Codian's video conferencing equipment, the MCU 4200 and IP VCR 2200 series, features Low Delay Advanced Audio Coding (MPEG-4 AAC-LD) and Low Complexity Advanced Audio Coding (MPEG-4 AAC-LC) from Fraunhofer IIS Preserving a natural sound, these codecs suit the high-fidelity needs of today's video conferencing systems

The high audio quality provided by MPEG-4 AAC-LD and AAC-LC eliminates any telephone-like feeling from video conference systems and make conferences less exhausting and more pleasant to follow.

In addition to natural sounding speech and music, MPEG-4 AAC-LD features a low encoding/decoding latency together with low datarates.

All these features make the codec one of the most important audio coding technologies in today's video conferencing world.

MPEG-4 AAC-LD and AAC-LC are used in the Codian MCU 4200 and IP VCR 2200 series.

The MCU 4200 series is a conferencing bridge.

The IP VCR 2200 series is a digital recorder specifically designed for video conferencing.

Harald Popp, Head of the Multimedia Realtime Systems Department at Fraunhofer IIS, says: "As main developers of the powerful MPEG-4 AAC-LD and MPEG-4 AAC-LC audio standards, we are of course delighted to see that our software makes its way into Codian's video conferencing products".

Mark Loney, Director of Product Management for Codian, adds: "We are delighted to work with Fraunhofer to add AAC support to our products".

"This is an important part of our quest to support the best features of every videoconferencing endpoint".

"AAC allows us to fully interoperate with systems from Tandberg, Sony, LifeSize and Vcon".
