"Fibercore Limited: world class" will be the message for Europe's leading specialty fibre manufacturer at OFC 2004 in Los Angeles (24th-26th February).

The company will be highlighting its world-class capabilities in every area of its business, from its pioneering fibre development and production, to customer service and manufacturing process.

Fibercore Limited's focus on delivering world class specialty fibre solutions for customers across a wide range of industries has enabled it to weather the current telecomms "nuclear winter" better than many of its competitors.

Fibercore Limited continues to report sales at around 70% of 2001 levels and opened a new state-of-the-art production facility at the start of 2003 which it paid for entirely from retained earnings.

The company now ships around 300km of specialty fibre every month, to customers based worldwide working in industries as diverse as aerospace, optoelectronic components, fundamental research, telecomms, defence and medical device manufacture.

Having been involved in continuous fibre development for the gyroscope market for the last 20 years, Fibercore Limited will be showcasing the latest generation of its HB-G polarisation maintaining fibre for at OFC.

Also on show will be the latest, high-efficiency IsoGain erbium-doped fibre for DWDM amplifiers and a revolutionary new ultra-low-profile fibre for use in acoustic sensing devices such as hydrophone arrays.

As part of its drive to maintain a "world class" approach to every aspect of business, all Fibercore Limited employees have recently been involved in a series of process and problem solving training including Kepner Trigoe and 5S workshops.

This was necessary to ensure that the company maximized the benefits of its new production facility and HQ and focus on continuously improving the performance of the organization.

Dr Chris Emslie, Fibercore Limited's Managing Director says: "Over the past 21 years we have focused on creating a truly world class proposition for our clients".

"We have built a reputation for developing and manufacturing world class fibres and over the last 12 months, with the commissioning of a new production facility and headquarters, we have ensured that every other part of our business complements this unrivalled reputation".

"Specialty fibre production has historically been seen as a 'black art' but through successful process manufacturing programmes we are applying world class manufacturing theory to every stage of our process".

"Coupled with customer service and problem solving programmes undertaken in 2003, we are confident of our world class capabilities in everything we do".
