A family of smart audio jack connectors supports 192kHz/32bit high definition audio technology in desktop and entertainment PCs.

FCI has developed a family of smart audio jack connectors able to support 192kHz/32bit high definition audio technology in desktop and entertainment PCs.

The smart audio jack series includes 35.5mm-high, triple-stack connectors for the new balanced technology extended (BTX) small form factor systems as well as 38.5mm-tall modules for the advanced technology extended (ATX) form factor.

Each jack port incorporates an isolated switch to provide functionality for presence detection and sensing when external audio devices, such as microphone, audio input, and speakers are plugged into the ports of the connector.

The smart audio jack connector family offers a range of options to design engineers including three-, five- and six-port connectors.

The shielded connectors also feature colour-coded jack ports that, when used in combination with colour coded cable ends, can be used to guide users toward proper assembly during system setup.

Smart audio jacks are designed for through-hole solder termination to the motherboard and are available in RoHS compatible.

The connectors are designed for an operating range of -25 to +100C.

The maximum initial contact resistance is 50mohm with a current rating of 1A maximum per contact.

Connectors are rated for a minimum 1000 mating cycles.
