Optical waveguide couplers save space
A new generation of Optronics optical waveguide couplers using planar silica glass technology has been introduced by FibreFab.
A new generation of Optronics optical waveguide couplers using planar silica glass technology has been introduced by FibreFab The new couplers can function in 1 x N or branch configurations, and can combine up to 32 signal ports
They occupy only a fraction of the space taken up by traditional couplers.
Nominal chip size for a typical 1 x 16 waveguide coupler is only 32 x 6 x 3mm.
End-face termination is flat or with 8-degree angle tilt polish.
Input is 250um fibre, while output is ribbon cable using individual 250um fibres.
Applications are in telecommunications and CATV systems.
