Fibre-optic attenuators handle up to 1W
FibreFab has introduced the new Optronics range of fibre-optic attenuators for use with the high-powered lasers now being used in long-distance telecommunications systems.
FibreFab has introduced the new Optronics range of fibre-optic attenuators for use with the high-powered lasers now being used in long-distance telecommunications systems The new attenuators are designed to overcome the problems presented by conventional attenuators, which may not withstand the high peak and average power levels produced by today's laser systems in these applications
In addressing this challenge, FibreFab recognised the need for a single-mode attenuator capable of handling high-power launch lasers without the need for filters, airgaps or core mismatching.
The new attenuators have power ratings of up to 1W, and offer attenuation levels from 1 to 30dB in fixed format.
They offer low back reflection of less than -50dB (UPC) and -60dB (APC), and polarisation stability within 0.1dB PDL.
