M A Horne Ltd, of Dorset, supplies its tyre heating equipment to most of the major Formula One racing teams including Ferrari, Williams, Benetton, and Prost.
The THPCB has two functions.
Firstly, it is used to test the tyres, midway through a race or trial, to establish temperature and related pressure diagnostics.

This data is used to determine the tyres' performance levels and can determine how long they have been in use through the THPCB's internal real time clock.
Secondly, the equipment is used to heat the spare tyres to precisely the correct temperature so that they can be driven under peak performance conditions immediately after fitting.
Each of the car's four tyres must be set to a different temperature to optimise their performance on a particular circuit's racing corners.
Formula One is big business.
Cars currently cost over ?1.5 million each and a single set of tyres is worth up to ?3,500.
The sport becomes more competitive every year and the technology used to prime the cars needs to be of the highest standard.
The THPCBs are required to perform at high levels of accuracy in race conditions and each tyre is heated to around 200øC.
Consequently, the housing must provide total protection and withstand extreme changes in temperature.
Mr Mike Drury, Director of M A Horne Ltd explains why his company uses Fibox enclosures: "We use the Fibox Mini-Mo range because it survives in extreme conditions across the wide variety of hazardous environments in which our heating boxes are deployed.
It is vital that the enclosure fully protects the internal electronics and enables it to be 100 per cent accurate at all times." The Fibox Mini-Mo enclosure is made from polycarbonate with an IP 65 rating.
M A Horne Ltd procure the enclosures directly from Fibox and perform all the customization themselves.
Engineers at M A Horne Ltd machine, fit and spray the enclosures to the company's own specification.
M A Horne Ltd produce heating equipment for a range of other industries including the plastic injection moulding and offshore gas platforms in the North Sea.
Fibox enclosures are used in all of these applications for their robust, heatproof and watertight qualities.
