Finder has launched a relay suited for use in the unusually high localised temperatures of domestic appliances such as, washing machines, tumble dryers and cooker controls.

Independently approved by VDE, Finder's 45.71 miniature electromechanical relay has been specifically designed to operate reliably and safely in operating environments up to 125C.

The extended temperature operating feature makes the 45.71 suitable for the rigours of the domestic white-goods market which is characterised by overruling demand for safety - including high electrical isolation between electrical parts in high local humidity environments, high resistance to electrical tracking and strict flammability ratings.

Compliance and qualification approval to relay and domestic appliance harmonised European standards EN 60255, EN 60730, EN 60335, has been central to the design and execution of the 45.71.

The broad scope of Certification by VDE covers switching currents of 10A (electrical life 300,000 operations at 105C), 12A (200,000 operations at 125C) and 16A (50,000 operations at 125C).

Certification to several levels of load and operations is expected to make BEAB certification of the overall appliance easier for the appliance designer.

With PCB and 250 Faston connections, Finder's 45.71 is available in 1 NO or 1 NC versions with AgCdO contact configuration and 6-60 DC coil options.

As well as being suitable for a wide range of domestic appliances the 45.71 can be installed with confidence into a wide range of industrial and electrical applications where reliable power switching in high temperatures operating environments is required.
