DC/DC convertor offers high efficiency
The MBI6650's hysteretic PFM control scheme enhances system stability and provides power efficiency of up to 90% at heavy loading and 85% at light loading.
First Components has released the Macroblock MBI6650 1.2A constant current buck DC/DC convertor, designed for high-power LED lighting applications Its constant current mode hysteretic PFM design makes it suitable as a replacement for traditional voltage mode DC/DC convertor replacement
The hysteretic PFM control scheme enhances system stability and provides power efficiency of up to 90% at heavy loading and 85% at light loading.
Adaptive output switching frequency and an audio frequency skip allow both higher current and frequency to be reached while preventing noise interruption when the MBI6650 is activated.
It has only four external components, minimising the PCB layout area and cutting costs.
It can operate over an input range of 9 to 36V and enhances power dissipation with a thermal pad in a TO-252-5L package.
