FST and Arphic sign memorandum of understanding
Fluffy Spider (FST) and Arphic have announced support for Mobilefont scalable font technology at low data volume and fast rendering time in the Fancypants embedded graphics and multimedia platform.
The Fancypants platform includes an optimised embedded run-time and SDK with comprehensive API for embedded application development.
Arphic developed Ifont, colour, personalised and dynamic fonts and font technologies such as Mobile Font and Layout Engine engines for handling complex multilingual fonts, with minimal embedded hardware requirements.
Arphic will be demonstrating the combination at ET Japan 2008, the conference for embedded system designers and managers, 19-21 November, Pacifico, Yokohama.
Arphic will also demonstrate Fancypants with Arphic fonts on the Compal JAX10 Mobile Internet Device featuring the Intel Atom processor.
The joint research, development and marketing alliance will benefit OEM/ODMs and end-users of consumer, commercial, industrial and medical devices, enabling: eye-catching graphics and (optional) multimedia capabilities, intuitive multilingual interfaces, efficient hardware resource utilisation, reduced device costs, speed to market and portability.
FST and Arphic are working together for next generation GUI devices with multilingual font display, such as smart phones, portable media players, digital picture frames, TV set-top boxes, in-car telematics / infotainment, kiosks, building automation systems and medical devices.
