Flint has launched a new self-contained kiosk module, which provides operators with a ready to use customisable unit for applications such as Internet access kiosks, remote information terminals, customer-activated point of sale kiosks and security systems A new concept in kiosk integration, the PADS kiosk module from Flint is completely self contained and combines a touch screen display, processor, and power supply to which peripherals like mag-swipe and smart card readers and a range of printers can be connected directly to create a customised kiosk application

When Flint supplies the module together with a reader or printer as part of an integral package, then they will load the appropriate software and drivers needed to support the peripherals.

A key feature is the intelligent watchdog system, which checks the integrity of the unit and will automatically restart the module if a program fails in service.

If the module fails to reboot, it automatically dials into a main server, where on-line maintenance can be carried out over the network.

A log file records unit status and data pertaining to daily operations, which can be accessed for review on a schedule or demand basis.

The kiosk module is supplied in an industry standard shell, fitted with an touch screen on the front of a 15.1in XGA TFT wide angle flat panel display, available in standard or high brightness backlights.

Flint recommends the high brightness version for sunlight readability.

The internal embedded solid-state computer is low power, and needs no cooling fan.

Fitted with a touch screen mounted on a 15in XGA TFT wide angle flat panel display, the PADS module also features a low power internal embedded processor, supplied with Windows NT and Netshift 5.

In addition, the internal power supply is capable of delivering 5, 12 and 24V to support the power requirements of most industry standard motorised card readers.

The module is fully CE approved.
