New character LCD modules that incorporate the latest technology to offer a dramatic improvement in viewability and readability are the first new display products to be announced by Flint, following the formation of its Flint Displays centre of excellence Manufactured by GPO (Grand Pacific Optoelectronics), the new LCDs have 15-micron spacing between the dots, compared with typically 50-micron or more for other displays

The result is more than a 60% improvement in contrast, while viewing angle is improved by more than 25%.

GPO is believed to be the only manufacturer to offer this fine spacing on standard character modules.

The new modules are available in STN yellow modes, with or without LED backlight, and in FSTN reflective mode.

Sizes offered are from 80 x 36, through 98 x 60 to 182 x 33.5mm in area, either 8 or 12mm in thickness.

Fully compatible with the dimensions and aspect ratio of previous character modules, the 15-micron line can be used in existing as well as new designs.

No mechanical or electrical changes are necessary.

Flint Displays has standard (0 to +50C) and extended (-20 to +70C) temperature range versions to cater for the broadest broad range of applications.
