Flint has two new families of ceramic multilayer chip capacitors that meet IEC safety standards for mains and line powered products such as modems, faxes, telephones, AC adapters or battery chargers The Syfer Type A and Type B capacitors, available in 2220 chip size delivering high capacitance in a small package

They are BSI approved and certified to IEC60384.14 and EN132400.

Manufactured in the UK by Syfer Technology, the Syfer Type A capacitors are Class X1/Y2 components in nominal capacitance values from 150pF to 4.7nf.

Syfer Type B are Class X2 devices in nominal values from 150pF to 10nF.

Syfer's manufacturing process is designed to produce a mechanically robust device, minimising the risk of delamination and pinholes.

This is a wet process in which successive layers of dielectric (ceramic) and electrodes are built up by a screen-printing procedure.

This creates less stress on the product and gives a more robust fused multilayer structure, making them ideal for automated pick and place procedures in surface mount manufacturing.

With a rated voltage of 250V AC, these surface mount capacitors operate over the -55 to 125C temperature range.

They are specified with an insulation resistance of 1Gohm and are voltage proof tested to 3kV DC/2kV AC.

Creepage distance is specified at 4mm minimum.

These cost effective chip capacitors are compatible with automatic placement processes, and designed for a wide range of high volume applications and equipment including AC adapters and the AC line of the switching power supply in battery chargers.
