New 1Gbyte Flash disk modules with 8Mbyte/s write speeds from Flint Smart support a whole range of applications.

New 1Gbyte Flash disk modules with 8Mbyte/s write speeds from Flint Smart support a whole range of applications including set-top boxes, ATMs, kiosks, vending machines, games and industrial or medical systems Manufactured by SimpleTech, the SLFDM family from Flint offers storage from 32Mbyte up to 1Gbyte, with write speeds as fast as 8Mbyte/s in burst mode

All are ideal as slot-in replacements for rotating media where normal disk drives would be too fragile, noisy or bulky.

They plug directly into a 40-, 44- or 144-pin IDE connector without requiring an interface cable, and use the standard IDE signals and I/O protocols.

As with rotating-media drives, the Flash disk modules can be configured as master or slave devices.

Both horizontal and vertical configurations are available for the 40-pin models up to 128Mbyte and for 44-pin drives up to 160Mbyte, each supplied in a compact IDE form factor and provided with power via a separate four-pin connector.

The SLFDM144 module follows the small-outline DIMM layout and uses a 144-pin card-edge connector with IDE pinouts.

It can run from 3.3 or 5.0V supplies.

All models operate with low power consumption, allowing for longer power-up time on battery-driven applications.

High reliability is enhanced still further by 512byte Sector and ECC Defect Management, ensuring data integrity of 1 in 10E14bit.

Guaranteed for 300,000 read-write cycles, these solid-state disk modules meet tough specifications for vibration and shock resistance, and are offered in extended (-25 to +85øC) and industrial (-40 to +85øC) operational temperature ranges to cater for the most demanding environments.
