Next generation battery cuts out NRE costs
Recently launched by Varta Microbattery and now in stock at Flint Distribution, the Varta Easypack is billed as the ideal solution for next generation battery requirements.
Not just a serial cable replacement but also one to many.
The ISM is aimed at any application where multiple machines need to exchange data, such factory floor data collection, vending machine monitoring, kiosk control and transport data collection, the ISM is a high performance and cost-effective wireless solution in applications where volumes don't justify a full integration.
Prequalified to Bluetooth 1.1 specifications, the module comes complete with integral RF and antenna, and offers datarates of 200Kbit/s over 100m.
Using a high-performance TDK Systems ceramic antenna excellent interference rejection in noisy environments such as factory floors is achieved.
Software control of the module is based on a Hayes AT style command protocol - no prior knowledge of Bluetooth is required.
All of the complexity of the Bluetooth API is handled within the module, which can be controlled using a command set that includes all of the standard modem control signals, and an escape sequence to drop the connection.
Security, through the standard pairing mechanism, is maintained, and Bluetooth activity can be monitored by means of two LEDs.
Flint is offering a development kit to allow designers to evaluate Bluetooth instantly in any system with a serial port connection.
The TDK Systems ISM from Flint has three digital I/O Lines.
All I/O lines accessible via S registers using the AT protocol to allow a very fast and flexible implementation.
