Plexus praises Flint performance

Plexus Corp has named Flint as its vendor rating supplier of the year, following an objective programme to evaluate all of its suppliers based on delivery and quality performance.

Plexus Corp has named Flint as its vendor rating supplier of the year, following an objective programme to evaluate all of its suppliers based on delivery and quality performance.

Flint supplied Plexus with some 9 million components last year, and achieved on-time-delivery performance of 98%, and a quality accuracy of 99.85%.

Plexus is a top global product realisation service provider for major electronics OEMs.

It initiated its vendor rating program eighteen months ago as part of an initiative to work with its suppliers to improve their on-time delivery performance, with a view to improving its own delivery performance to its customers.

Commenting on Flint's success, Paul Blenkinsop, Strategic Purchasing Manager, said, "Flint has maintained exceptional levels of service quality over a large volume of shipments.

The dedication and focus of Flint's customer-facing team, and robust, consistent processes in its warehouse and IT infrastructure, contributed to their performance, which stood comparison with some of the global distributors".

He added, "Flint's well-thought out processes and systems lead to outstanding performance in other areas as well.

For example, they emerge as our best supplier in terms of order acknowledgement also".

As part of its continuous improvement program, Flint invested GBP 1 million in warehouse automation, and new IT facilities in 2000.

Its warehouse is now fully integrated with the IT system, providing a single, integrated purchasing, sales, shipment, stock control and accounting processes.

Flint's goal for this system is to move to zero errors.
