Fluke has won an order from Railtrack for custom built high-specification multimeters.

Fluke has won an order from Railtrack for custom built high-specification multimeters Based on the successful Fluke 187 DMM and adapted by Fluke for the application, the 187/TPWS will be used to provide vital regular testing of the latest red-signal train protection and warning systems (TPWS)

One thousand of the specially modified Fluke 187 digital multimeters have initially been ordered by Railtrack for engineers testing installations of the latest TPWS.

The accuracy of measurement is vital when checking the strength of signal from the static transmitter, placed between the rails, as detected by the onboard receiving aerial.

Ken West, Regional Marketing Manager for Industrial Tools, Fluke (UK), commented, "Responsive to the Railtrack requirement, we have re-engineered the 187 product in a number of areas for specific measurements in this application.

However with the exception of these measurements the 187/TPWS operates as a standard product giving the engineer a fully functioned high specification instrument.

As with all Fluke 187s, the DMM features an extra large dual-reading display with large digits and an analogue bargraph.

The backlight makes the display easily readable even in dark environments".

The Fluke 187 is one of four high-performance multimeters in the 180 Series that meet the needs of the most demanding maintenance, electrical, electronic, control and process technicians and engineers.

It provides simultaneous readouts of different measurements, such as true-RMS AC and DC amps and volts, frequency, decibels and more, in an extremely easy to read format. Request free introductory details about products from Fluke (UK) ...
