Tester keeps an eye on PCB contamination
A novel unit provides localised testing for corrosive or conductive residues on critical areas of printed circuit assemblies that will monitor and facilitate improvement in the manufacturing process.
A novel tester provides localised testing for corrosive or conductive residues on critical areas of printed circuit assemblies that will monitor and facilitate improvement in the manufacturing process The C3 enters the market at an opportune time, as company President Marcia Kelly comments: "With the increased circuit sensitivity of today's designs, these residues are having a greater detrimental impact on system level performance

DEK has extended its VectorGuard to 29" by 29" - a convenient new frameless foil system that is said to be set to revolutionize large format applications.
Large formats get frameless foil system
DEK has added large foils to its range of VectorGuard stencils, allowing customers to reduce changeover time and ease stencil handling and storage challenges in large image area applications.

The C3 (Critical Cleanliness Control), can be used on the manufacturing floor to determine the presence of corrosive and conductive contaminates on the surface of electronic assemblies.
The process takes less than 10min and eliminates the costly and time consuming practice of sending electronic assemblies to a lab to be tested.
The C3 features a manually positioned arm that allows the user to select a targeted test area.
By using a steaming technique, residues in the specified area are extracted and tested.
This process works in two ways: first as a localised residue assessment tool and second as a sample collection tool for ion chromatography analysis when further investigation for more specific residues is needed.
The C3 comes equipped with a handheld PC, including installed, easy-to-learn operator software that controls the test cycle.
The C3 will be on display at APEX, from 24th to 26th February 2004 at the Anaheim Convention Centre.
