The Logie IC is a single-chip solution for combined DVB-T and DAB reception developed by Frontier Silicon.
The highly integrated chip provides all the functions required for receiving DVB-T and DAB, fully decoding this input to an analogue video and audio output.
It also provides multimedia system support through its integrated ATAPI and AV-interface for integrating DVD playback capability and pay-TV application support through a common interface as well as dual smart cards.
Anthony Sethill, CEO of Frontier Silicon, commented: "Our Logie device enables set top box manufacturers to produce low cost boxes with considerable consumer appeal, including the reception of 24 digital TV channels and 50 or more digital radio (DAB) channels that are all free".
"There is no other combination DVB-T/DAB chip currently available in the market that can do this".
Roger Fearn, Managing Director of Goodmans Industries said" "We are very pleased to have brought out the first combined DAB and Freeview set top box".
"The expertise and support provided by Frontier Silicon was very important part in allowing us to achieve this market first".
