High availability for cPCI platform
Force Computers has released its preconfigured Centellis CO 25000-9U system.
As a fully PICMG 2.16-compliant "universal" board capable of system or peripheral slot functionality in a system platform, the CPCI-690 offers a CompactPCI packet-switching backplane (cPSB) switch-fabric solution for third generation (3G) wireless, asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switches, Internet protocol (IP) Layer 3 switches, semiconductor test equipment and other demanding industrial control and next-generation network (NGN) applications.
Force now offers SBCs with onboard PICMG 2.16 compliance on all three major embedded processor architectures UltraSPARC, PowerPC and Pentium III.
Implementing many best-of-breed technologies, the CPCI-690 SBC offers OEMs the earliest possible access to state-of-the-art embedded computing solutions many before they have become widely adopted resulting in an improved time-to-market.
By working closely with industry leaders such as IBM, Force can offer products that make full use of the latest technology.
The CPCI-690 offers leading-edge features including: Force's patent-pending Sentinel PCI-to-PCI bridge for universal-slot capability; triple 10/100 Ethernet interfaces one on the front panel, two on the backplane; up to 2Gbyte onboard SDRAM; up to 64Mbyte user Flash memory; 512Kbyte internal L2 cache memory; dual 66MHz/64bit PMC slots; dual serial interfaces on front panel or rear-transition board (RTB); IPMI system management support (PICMG 2.9); and full hot swap support (PICMG 2.1 R2.0).
The CPCI-690 is available this month through Force's Early Access Unit (EAU) programme, with volume shipments scheduled for July 2002.
