Force Computers has been named as the leading provider of merchant-market embedded CPU boards by the Venture Development Corporation.

Force Computers has been named as the leading provider of merchant-market embedded CPU boards by the Venture Development Corporation (VDC), a highly respected research company in the embedded industry In a new research report, VDC finds that Force has the largest share of the single board computer (SBC) market in general and the VMEbus SBC segment, in particular - as well as the number-two spot in the CompactPCI SBC niche

In addition, VDC concluded that Force led all vendors in supplying embedded motherboards based on variations of the ATX form factor.

In this publication, VDC also honoured Force as one of five embedded CPU board providers to receive a "platinum" vendor rating.

As a platinum vendor, Force ranks in the top 5% of these companies, based on an independent survey of user-derived, non-product criteria.

Some of this year's criteria included factors such as availability and delivery, price and a variety of service and support factors, as well as specific vendor ratings on a scale of one to four for each factor, as judged by the users.

"Based on VDC's independent market research among users of single board computers and embedded motherboards, Force Computers has gained the distinction of leading both product categories in terms of total revenue-generating shipments in 2002", said Eric Gulliksen, Practice Director of VDC's Embedded Hardware Research Group.

"In addition, the company led the VME subcategory and came in second in CompactPCI.

Combined with its platinum vendor rating - developed through our non-product-specific, user-driven model - one can certainly say that Force has established a high level of regard among the community of embedded CPU board users".

Force supplies a full spectrum of building-block solutions - from ATX motherboards, processor PCI mezzanine cards (PrPMCs) and VMEbus modules to AdvancedTCA and CompactPCI platforms.

As soon as open-specification technologies appear, Force begins prototyping and testing them so that OEM customers can develop products with their required application features - reducing time from concept to full functionality.

"As a long-time partner to OEMs, Force offers the broadest, deepest product line in the embedded industry to meet precise requirements for nearly any application - with dedicated engineering teams available to work by the customer's side to ensure satisfaction", said Eric Gauthier, Force Corporate Director of Customer Marketing.

"On the whole, Force's extensive engineering capabilities and design methods ensure cost effectiveness and quick time-to-market for a cross-section of product and profit objectives".
