High availability for cPCI platform
Force Computers has released its preconfigured Centellis CO 25000-9U system.
Providing a fully integrated solution from a single source, the EndurX CO 21KX allows OEMs to outsource an open-standards-based HA platform and concentrate on their core competencies and adding value.
Also, with its basis on the well established industry-standard PICMG 2.16 for CompactPCI packet-switching backplanes (cPSB), this system provides a proven architecture for zero-downtime services.
Communications network downtime can be both costly and dangerous.
Designed for "five nines" uptime, the EndurX CO 21KX PICMG 2.16 compliant embedded CompactPCI packet-switching backplane (cPSB) platform minimises both planned and unplanned downtime and provides continuous service during fault recovery.
The EndurX CO 21KX provides this level of protection through a combination of: redundancy on the component level to avoid single points of failure; repair and upgrade of a running system without impacting system service; remote access for system monitoring and control; and Carrier Grade Linux OS and EndurX high availability software framework.
The net result is a standards-based, high availability server that is particularly suitable for data-intensive central-office and networking applications, including soft switches, media gateway controllers, VoIP concentrators, multimedia servers, signalling gateways, cable head-end, IP/DSLAM and wireless infrastructure applications.
The EndurX series is intended to provide and support an Internet protocol (IP) based computing network for continuity on the system service level.
Building on advanced software functionality, the EndurX CO 21KX uses dual Intel Pentium M processor nodes and adds two software level features on top of the Centellis CO 21KX system in the form of an intelligent high availability management instance and a new API to support applications by providing a continuous system service.
EndurX CO 21KX systems will be available through Force's Early Access Unit (EAU) programme in the fourth quarter of this year.
