A new line of high-performance radio-frequency crystal oscillators (RFXOs) features exceptionally low jitter and phase noise, allowing for full use of the allotted bandwidth in a system.

A new line of high-performance radio-frequency crystal oscillators (RFXOs) features exceptionally low jitter and phase noise, allowing for full use of the allotted bandwidth in a system, as well as lower bit rate errors in optical datacommunications The Fox RFV300 series, a voltage controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO), is the first to be released in the RFXO product line

With phase jitter at less than 0.5ps and available in frequencies from 600MHz to 1.25GHz, the new RFV300 series is ideal for applications such as Sonet, SDH, ATM and WAN.

Additionally, the new Fox high-performance VCXOs can cost up to 40% less than other RF crystal oscillators, significantly improving the cost-to-performance ratio of systems using these devices.

Housed in an industry-standard 7.5 x 5.0 x 1.5 mm ceramic package, the new RFV300 series features a standard operating temperature of -20 to +70C, with an extended temperature range of -40 to +85C available.

The RFV300 series is available with frequency stabilities of +/-50, +/-25 and +/-20ppm.

The new RFV300 series is offered in 3.3 or 2.5V versions and features LV-PECL complementary outputs.

Output symmetry is 45-55% at 50% Vdd over the frequency range.

Future additions to Fox's new RFXO product line include crystal oscillator (XO) and temperature compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) versions.

Pricing for a new RFV300 oscillator at 622.08MHz starts at $25 per unit in quantities of 1000.

Volume production will begin in December 2002; delivery is 10-12 weeks ARO.
