Fox Electronics has expanded its line of radio frequency crystal oscillators (rfXOs) with the addition of two new low-voltage series of crystal oscillators The new 2.5V RFX250 and RFV250 series of rfXOs feature exceptionally low jitter and phase noise, enabling the full use of the allotted bandwidth in a system, as well as lower bitrate errors in optical datacommunications

This makes the new rfXOs ideal for use in high-performance applications including Sonet, ATM, SDH, Gigabit Ethernet and WAN, as well as for timing reference in optical and datacommunications systems.

Designers employing Fox's new rfXOs can achieve up to a 40% reduction in costs over other RF crystal oscillators, significantly improving the cost-to-performance ratio of systems using these devices.

The LVE-PECL crystal oscillator (XO) RFX250 and LVE-PECL voltage controlled crystal oscillator (VCXO) RFV250 feature phase jitter of better than 0.5ps and a frequency range from 600MHz to 1.25GHz, and are housed in an industry-standard 7.5 x 5.0 x 1.5mm ceramic package.

The RFX250 XO has a standard operating temperature of -20 to +70C with +/-20ppm stability and an extended temperature range of -40 to +85C with +/-25ppm stability.

The RFV250 VCXO offers +/-50ppm APR (absolute pull range) over a standard operating temperature of -40 to +85C.

Output symmetry for both series of rfXOs is 45 to 55% at 50% Vdd over the frequency range.

Pricing for a new RFV250 oscillator at 1.25GHz starts at $35.58 per unit in 1000-piece quantities.

Delivery is stock to 16 weeks ARO.
