A new cost-saving series of crystal oscillators offers significantly reduced noise and amplitude by incorporating low voltage differential signalling (LVDS).

A new cost-saving series of crystal oscillators offers significantly reduced noise and amplitude by incorporating low voltage differential signalling (LVDS) The new F4700/F4710 Series is ideal for use in a variety of high-speed digital signalling applications, including the transfer of video, 3D graphics, and photorealistic image data from cameras to PCs and printers, through LAN, phone, and satellite systems and ultimately into home set top boxes and digital VCRs

Current solutions to move high-speed digital data across very short and very long distances typically consume too much power, generate too much noise, and are extremely expensive.

The new cost-effective oscillator series helps to reduce power consumption and minimise the noise of the overall data transfer system.

LVDS enables the oscillators to automatically impedance-match signals to the digital network, allowing for the synchronised timing of digital circuits.

This reduces the number of components needed in a system, as well as the overall system cost, since the signal conversions are done automatically and converters typically used are no longer required.

The new oscillators, which are available in supply voltages of 3.3V +/-5% (F4700 series) and 2.5V +/-5% (F4710 series), offer a differential output voltage of 0.247 to 0.454V, with 0.33V being typical.

Frequency stabilities are +/-100, +/-50, +/-25 and +/-20ppm.

Standard frequency range is 70 to 170MHz, with frequencies up to 250MHz available upon request.

Standard operating temperature is -10 to +70C, with an optional -40 to +85C range available for most models.

The new series measures an industry-standard 7 x 5mm and storage temperature is -55 to +125C.

As with all Fox F Series oscillators, the new F4700 Series is available in bulk quantities or on a 2000-unit tape and reel for automatic assembly systems.

Pricing for a new +/-100ppm F4700 oscillator at 212.50MHz starts at $15.95 per unit in quantities of 10,000.

Delivery is 12 weeks ARO.
