Crystal packing reduces costs
Fox Electronics has introduced an all new quartz crystal packaging technology that provides a cost reduction of up to 20% or more over conventional ceramic packaging.
Fox Electronics, a supplier of frequency control products, has announced the introduction of an all new quartz crystal packaging technology that provides a cost reduction of up to 20% or more over conventional ceramic packaging, as well as eliminating the recurring problems of ceramic shortages The new FQ Series, utilizing a proprietary crystal packaging technique, is initially offered in three of the most popular crystal package sizes, each available in 2 or 4 pad configurations: 10 x 4.5mm (FQ1045), 5 x 7mm (FQ7050) and 6 x 3.5mm (FQ6035), with smaller sizes now under development

Oscillators run faster and are more stable
Fox Electronics has extended the frequency range and stability options of its popular F4100 Series crystal oscillators to 170MHz with stabilities as tight as +50ppm (F4105) for all conditions.
Ultra-low profile for RTC crystal
Fox Electronics has a miniature watch crystal that measures just 7.0 x 1.5mm with an extremely low profile of 1.4mm.
The new FQ Series is fully RoHS compliant and offers complete pad compatibility with existing ceramic packages.
Developed to effectively combat both cost and availability pressures, the new crystals yield costs savings of 15% in quantities of 10,000 to 20,000, and savings of 20% in quantities of 50,000.
Ideal for a wide range of crystal applications, including HDD, PDA, set-top boxes, security systems and more, the FQ Series offers low profile construction as well as weight savings over ceramic packages.
Depending on the package size, the crystals are available in frequencies from 3.2 MHz to 49 MHz, with a 30 PPM tolerance at 25 Cdeg.
Standard stability is 30 PPM at temperatures from 0deg to 70deg C, with tighter stabilities available on special order.
Extended temperature versions for use from -40deg to +85Cdeg are also available.
Pricing for a 5 x 7mm FQ7050 crystal with a frequency of 8 MHz is $0.19 ea.
in quantities of 50,000.
Delivery is 6 to 8 weeks ARO.
