FarSite has developed an X.25 switch support module that runs on Windows platforms (Windows 2000 and XP) using the versatile high-performance FarSync X25 cards for the X.25 lines The FarSync X.25 switch can support up to 16 ports (four FarSync X.25 four-port cards), X.25 lines can be added simply by installing further FarSync two- and four-port X.25 cards

The network connections can be a mixture of RS232C, X.21 and V.35, with ports being configurable for both DCE and DTE operation.

As well as providing a low cost X.25 switch as against that offered by conventional dedicated devices the Switch support software can also operate in conjunction with the FarSync TCP-X25 gateway range to provide a elegant filtered pass-through system.

Using a two-port FarSync card an X.25 line can be split (one side DTE the other DCE) and data traffic passed through the FarSync card.

The FarSync TCP-X25 gateway running on the same PC/server can be configured to filter off selected X.25 traffic to allow the gateway perform the transfer over a TCP/IP network leaving the remainder to be passed on down the X.25 line.

This allows for a very smooth and iterative migration path where it is required to transition X.25 traffic over a TCP/IP network while still retaining some traffic over the X.25 network.

The FarSync X.25 switch module, product code FS9602 is available now.
