Fujikura Europe has released its new tuneable 300-pin MSA platform based transceiver from Sigma-links, the joint venture between its parent company Fujikura and Oki Electric.

Fujikura Europe has released its new tuneable 300-pin MSA (multisource agreement) platform based transceiver from Sigma-links, the joint venture between its parent company Fujikura and Oki Electric Industry leading manufacturers of optical devices, Fujikura strengthens its range with this compact tuneable 10G transponder enabling transmission of up to 80km with full tuneability across both the C and L bands

"Our transponders are uniquely placed - there is a gap in the metro market for 10G products with wide tuneability".

"This product fills that gap enabling equipment manufacturers to slash system costs", states Simon Richardson, Product Manager at Fujikura Europe .

"In the ever changing world of communications, customers are mindful that suppliers come and go".

"We have a wealth of history and experience with designing leading edge optical communication products and customers acknowledge that we are a credible and reliable supplier", he adds.

Fujikura's extensive portfolio spans the entire spectrum of optical communications; from long haul products such as dispersion compensating modules and EDFAs (erbium doped fibre amplifiers) to FTTH devices - namely GPON transceivers.

The addition of the OC-192 full tuneable transceiver strengthens its range in the metro market.

"With the ability to set 88 wavelengths with 50GHz channel spacing supporting both the C and L bands, customers benefit from the flexible system configuration (pre and post installation) deriving considerable cost savings, improved inventory management and dynamic wavelength allocation for ROADS systems", says Richardson.

With a built-in wavelength locker, enabling wavelength stability of better than +/-20pm, this transponder is suitable for high density wavelength division multiplex (DWDM) system applications; as well as Sonet/SDH, 10G Ethernet and forward error correction.

It can also support either an avalanche photodiode (APD) for increased sensitivity or a PIN photodiode (PIN-PD) for reduced costs.

For remote control, an I2C communication function is built-in enabling dynamic wavelength reconfiguration, reading of alarms, analogue monitoring and other several settings.

"At a bitrate of 9.95 to 11.3Gbit/s, this compact reliable 300-pin MSA transponder module is currently in full production".

"Delivering unbeatable 10G performance for our Asian customers, it is available now in Europe".

"We welcome enquiries for engineering samples and we can fulfil orders within six weeks", concludes Richardson.
