Leo aims at European navigation applications
Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe is releasing its Leo FR-V (Fujitsu RISC-VLIW) chip, based on the FR-V architecture announced last year.
Fabricated in the latest 0.25-micron process technology and housed in a compact 80-pin TQFP, the highly integrated device is one of the smallest COFDM demodulator chips currently available.
The demodulator, which also incorporates FEC (Forward Error Correction) function, 10bit A/D convertor and 21dB differential input PGA (programmable gain amplifier), offers enhanced echo and cochannel performance and reduced power consumption over previous generation devices.
System cost is kept low via the all-digital design with a single fixed crystal oscillator and AGC feedback to the analogue front-end only.
The use of algorithms combining feed forward and backward control enables the stable and fast channel tracking demanded, particularly for mobile reception.
The device fully conforms to the NorDig digital integrated receiver decoder specification and supports all European digital terrestrial TV standards, supporting 8K and 2K carrier-mode operation.
Working evaluation boards for the MB87J217A are also now available for a variety of tuners including Thomson, Philips, Alps and Temic (Microtune). Request a free brochure from Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe ...
