Leo aims at European navigation applications
Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe is releasing its Leo FR-V (Fujitsu RISC-VLIW) chip, based on the FR-V architecture announced last year.
DMA controllers for context program control are also provided.
The whole family of devices conforms to the S400 cable media data transfer rate of 400Mbit/s.
First, the MB86613 is a high-performance triple-port OHCI controller for data transfer between PCI and 1394 buses, using asynchronous/isochronous transfer mode and integrating 1394 transceiver, comparator and PLL to provide 1394 bus protocol control.

Next generation terrestrial DVB demodulator
The next generation single-chip COFDM DVB-T compliant demodulator, developed by Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe is now available in volume quantities.
Conforming to the PCI v2.1, IEEE 1394-1995 and Open HCI v1.0 Standards, the device has PCI/DMA, OHCI and 1394 blocks.
It incorporates the latest OHCI and 1394 features, including fairness control and physical upper bound registers, fly-by arbitration, suspend/resume, ping packet, and second cycle limit.
The PCI/DMA block includes a power management function compliant with PCI v1.0 Standard.
The OHCI driver to control this device is already included in the Microsoft Windows operating system.
The family also includes the MB86613L, a single port 1394 interface device offering ultra low power consumption in standby mode.
The MB86614A is a low cost, two-port IEEE 1394 serial bus controller integrating an SBP-2 interface with differential transceiver and comparator, making it ideal for use in equipment usually connected to a PC, such as printers, scanners and digital cameras.
Including a 16bit asynchronous data port, the MB86614A is capable of automatic separation of received header and data, and packetisation for data transfer continuity.
The MB86616 is a protocol exchanger to enable connection between SCSI interface devices and the IEEE1394 bus according to the SBP-2 standard with asynchronous transfer mode and is primarily intended for use with mass storage devices.
Integrating an IEEE1394 controller and a SCSI controller supporting the Fast-20 SCSI standard, the chip has two cable ports with differential transceiver and comparator to support S100, S200 and S400 datarates.
A Fujitsu F2MC-16F CPU core is incorporated for controlling the individual on-chip controllers.
The 8bit Fast-20 SCSI controller is capable of data transfer up to 20Mbyte/s.
Furthermore, the IEEE1394 controller supports chain transfer to enable consecutive transmission and receipt of requested packets of data.
The SCSI bus interface contains a totempole type, single-ended driver and receiver to allow the bus to be directly driven.
Finally, the MB86617 high speed universal serial bus controller can be directly connected to MPEG devices via an IEEE1394 transport stream interface and has been developed for video/audio set-top box, game console and DVC applications such as DVC camcorders.
It also provides an LSI interface to a copy protection circuit.
