MCUs hit the road with LIN-compatible
UARTs
The MB89210 series of 8bit F2MC controllers includes UART capabilities that support the Local Interconnect Network (LIN).
The MB89210 series of 8bit F2MC controllers includes UART capabilities that support the Local Interconnect Network (LIN) LIN, along with the Controller Area Network (CAN), has emerged as a de facto, low-cost communications standard for in-vehicle networks

Leo aims at European navigation applications
Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe is releasing its Leo FR-V (Fujitsu RISC-VLIW) chip, based on the FR-V architecture announced last year.
The MB89210 series provides the ability to connect digital equipment such as audio speakers and minidisk players that work with a conventional UART in a LIN environment, so customers can design inexpensive, reliable automotive-grade local area networks.
The LIN-compatible network can also expand network capability to automobile climate sensors, remote air-conditioning temperature and airflow controls, and other analogue equipment.
The MCUs can operate using either internal or external clocks based on a crystal or ceramic resonator.
This means that, if the device disconnects from an external oscillator source or if another failure on the resonator occurs, the controller can automatically switch to its internal source, so the CPU continues to function.
The MB89210 series accepts a wide range of power sources from 3.5 to 5.5V, so the MCUs remain reliable even when the power supply fluctuates.
The minimum instruction execution time is 0.32us at 12.5MHz.
All versions of the series include a full complement of timers and an eight-channel A/D convertor.
Memory options include 512byte of RAM, 16Kbyte of ROM and 16Kbyte of OTPROM.
"Two in-vehicle network technologies - CAN and LIN - have become widely accepted standards in automotive applications primarily to enhance safety and customer comfort", said Dirk Weinsziehr, Senior Marketing Director Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe.
"Fujitsu has assumed a leadership position in developing a wide range of 8, 16 and 32bit MCUs for automotive applications that require either CAN or LIN capabilities". Request a free brochure from Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe ...
