Leo aims at European navigation applications
Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe is releasing its Leo FR-V (Fujitsu RISC-VLIW) chip, based on the FR-V architecture announced last year.
It enables network and communication systems designers to interface OC-192 framer functions through the XFI interface to the industry-standard XFP modules.
The HS9GX macro receiver incorporates a high-sensitivity data-sampling integration amplifier, along with a robust dual-PLL CDR unit, enabling it to exceed the OC-192 jitter tolerance limits.
In order to deliver a high-quality signal with very low jitter in the transmitter, the macro uses a pre-emphasis unit.
The macro's transmitter and receiver each have 1:64 serdes functions, along with a pseudo random binary sequence (PRBS) generator and data comparator, which are designed to simplify testability.
The HS9GX, which is being manufactured using Fujitsu's 0.11um process technology, requires voltage supplies of only 1.2 and 2.5V.
"The telecom industry is now focusing its efforts on providing high bandwidth to its customers as efficiently as possible, to match the growth in data traffic", said Dirk Weinsziehr, FME's Senior Marketing Director.
"In order to capitalise on existing unlit fibre, metro service providers anticipate strong growth in the 10Gbit/s infrastructure, and system integrators foresee a need for low-cost, low-power solutions to optimise their systems.
The HS9GX macro has been developed to meet these requirements".
"Fujitsu's 10Gbit/s serial high-speed I/O interface macro supports high-performance serial function while dissipating low power, which enables our customers to achieve high integration in their designs", said Mark Ellins, FME's Senior Manager Networking/Telecom.
"Coupled with our recent announcement of the single-chip 10Gbit/s Ethernet switch IC, this new macro demonstrates Fujitsu's leadership in high-performance networking and communications technology addressing the 10Gbit/s marketplace". Request a free brochure from Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe ...
