Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe has strengthened its commitment to Europe, as the foundation stone was laid for its new, purpose-built, European headquarters.

In a recent ceremony in Langen, Germany, Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME) strengthened its commitment to Europe, as the foundation stone was laid for its new, purpose-built, European headquarters The company will move from its current location in Dreieich-Buchschlag on 15th December 2005

Present at the ceremony were Langen town representatives, the builders, the architects and FME's President Shimpei Hirata, who commented: "Langen is an ideal location for us and the purpose-designed offices will allow us to develop our business more efficiently".

"This move underpins our commitment to the European electronics industry, which has never been stronger".

To mark the occasion, a time capsule was placed beneath the foundation stone, containing four of FME's key electronic devices, comprising a 32bit automotive microcontroller, a Coral graphic display controller, an ASIC used in high-speed fibre-optic networking and a SmartMPEG evaluation board.

These devices were designed or defined in Europe and symbolise the foundation on which FME's core business will be based for the future.

The move to new premises, with a floor area of 7600m2, will provide FME with a building that has been designed to meet the company's exact requirements for the foreseeable future.

Situated on a newly developed business park in Langen, near Frankfurt, the building known as Fujitsu Rhein-Main Campus, is only 10 minutes drive from Frankfurt airport.

180 FME employees will be located here, of which the majority are employed in design, engineering or applications functions.

40 employees from other Fujitsu companies - Fujitsu Services, Fujitsu Laboratories Europe and Shinko Electronics - will also be relocated here.

With the move taking place during FME's 25th year in Europe, the company's strengthening commitment to the European market is further underlined. Request free introductory details about products from Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe ...
